Designer Philippa Soutberg on her label, Recollection.

Tell us a bit about your label and what marketeers can expect to find at the winter market.

Recollection’s collections offer quality, innovative and Australian inspired products with subtle imagery and prints which are designed to remind the wearer of home.  These elements are inspired from the designer’s personal memories and experiences of travelling through the country’s natural and rural landscape. It is in doing so that I hope to connect with a consumer who shares a similar appreciation of Australia’s natural environment; and a desire for clothing which reminds them of travelling and of home while being practical and sophisticated in design.

As a young and upcoming designer I believe that my Label comes from a distinctive perspective. My design philosophy is to create clothing which means something to the designer and wearer rather than purely being dictated by the latest trends.  From this outlook, the creation of the Recollection Label has come from a personal desire to share and express the positive memories and experiences of travelling around Australia

What is it about Hustle&Scout that made you want to apply to be a stallholder?

As a Canberran, it is an exciting and rewarding experience to be a part of Canberra’s new and developing fashion and design scene.  Being a stallholder at Hustle&Scout creates a great opportunity not only for selling but also to help promote and support the growth of local talent. My favourite thing about Hustle&Scout is that it does just this. It supports and encourages the up and coming design community.
