Getting to know Sarah Bourke Jewellery...

Sarah's home and studio in Chinnock is nestled amongst the bush north of Tathra on the far south coast of New South Wales, Australia.

Combining her silversmithing and woodworking skills Sarah creates contemporary jewellery for men and women to enjoy. Each piece is unique and 100% handcrafted from Australian and exotic hardwoods complimented by sterling silver, resulting in a range of strong, bold yet elegant designs.

Sarah employs woods such as Northern Territory Ironwood, Brigalow, Padouk and Kingwood, known for their rich colours and defined grains. The Jewellery is made from recycled sterling silver where possible and ethically sourced wood from cut offs or recycled under strict Australian regulations. All jewellery is made in her self sufficient studio completely run off solar power.

Sarah has exhibited her work in Sydney and Melbourne as well as London, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

What was it about Hustle&Scout that made you want to apply to be a stallholder?

Hustle&Scout promotes fresh Australian fashion. My attraction is the contemporary  new styles and the buzzy fun atmosphere projected.

How would you best describe your label?

Sarah Bourke Jewellery is striking and bold, yet the softness of wood is warm and colourful. The work will bring a piece of nature to cultural Canberra.

MY FAV THINGS.

Guilty pleasures?

Cant go past a glass of Red and slithers of Melbourne’s Pana chocolate watching foreign films.

Board games?

Well I more enjoy card playing and I'm lucky now I have a 6 and 7 year old to share the fun, the favourite at the moment is Too Many Monkeys…

Things to cook to impress?

Has to be Japanese Banquet, to taste a variety of simple exotic flavours such as agedashi tofu and sesame eggplant. Always a surprising dinner and I think I tend to use every implement and saucepans in the kitchen.

Unwind in Canberra?

Canberra is more of a place to shop and gallery hop for me, I live in the bush and culture is my way to unwind in Canberra, release more creative energy .

Song to dance to?

If there is a flamenco guitar its hard to sit still.
